Lay out the nachos, chill the beer and get ready to see some old friends, and maybe a few new ones. It’s Super Bowl weekend!

Not exactly thrilled with the idea of hours of watching football? No problem. Here are a couple of quick tips for enjoying the weekend’s festivities — even if you’re not exactly into the game. (By the way, it’s the Denver Broncos vs. the Seattle Seahawks.)

Focus on friendship. For some folks, the greatest thing about Super Bowl Sunday is the chance to get together with family and friends. So if the party is at your house, make sure you plan and prepare food ahead of time so that you can kick back and enjoy your guests.

Live a little. Americans eat more than one million chicken wings on Super Bowl Sunday. It’s not exactly Thanksgiving, but it is a great day to indulge in savory snacks. Check out this list of the 20 greatest, skinny Super Bowl recipes of all time. Our favorite is the hot, spinach dip:

Low-Fat Spinach Dip

Servings: 10 (1/4 cup)

Weight Watcher’s Points: 2

Points+: 3

10 ounces of frozen chopped spinach, thawed and excess liquid squeezed out

1/2 cup of light sour cream

5 tablespoons of light mayonnaise

1/3 cup of Parmigiano-Reggiano

1/4 cup of scallion, chopped

1 clove garlic, crushed

1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese

Fresh pepper to taste

Preheat the oven to 375 F. Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Place mixture in an ovenproof dish and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until it is hot and the cheese is melted. Serve right away in the same dish or a bowl created from a round loaf of bread. You can arrange the pieces that you pull out next to the bread bowl and use them for dipping.

Nutrition information per serving: 92 calories; 7 g fat; 3 g carbohydrates; 1 g fiber; 5 g protein.
