Nothing says romance like luscious dark chocolate and ripe tropical fruit. This lightly spiced chocolate fondue is the perfect Valentine’s Day dessert, and you can enjoy it without an ounce of guilt.

It’s made with non-fat evaporated milk, so it’s creamy and rich without added fat, but with just a touch of rum to add a little island spice.

Even better—dark chocolate is not only delicious, it actually lowers blood sugar and cholesterol. Last, the recipe is incredibly quick and simple to prepare. It only takes about 20 minutes.

So melt, dip and enjoy!

Ingredients

¾ cup non-fat evaporated milk
8 ounces lightly sweetened dark chocolate (grated or broken into small pieces)

2 tablespoons of sugar

1 teaspoon bourbon vanilla

½ teaspoon orange zest

2 tablespoons spiced rum (Captain Morgan’s, The Kraken or other brand)

The Dippers

Sliced strawberries, bananas, mango and pineapple

To prepare

  1. Warm evaporated milk and sugar over low heat in a heavy saucepan. Do not boil.
  2. Slowly whisk in chocolate, and stir until melted.
  3. Continue heating. Stir in rum, vanilla and orange zest until creamy and flavors are

blended.

  1. Transfer mixture to a small fondue pot (inexpensive and easy to find at Target or Wal-mart) to keep warm for dipping.
