If I’m not communicating, I’m not awake. Before blogging even existed, I was blowing up my friends’ email accounts with a weekly journal of news, culture and job opportunities.
At my core, I’m a born networker, passionate storyteller, news junkie and social media enthusiast via my digital persona Enjoyceinglife. I’m proud of my accomplishments — 20 years of writing and editing consumer magazines (Fortune, Essence, Ebony, People, Jet, Working Mother and Vibe), co-founding a cultural/literary public relations firm, publishing a teen novel and short stories, and transitioning Spelman College’s printed newsletter to an award-winning, interactive digital publication.
I’m probably what they call a tiger mom. My most important and rewarding responsibility is being a parent, which I work hard at and revel in daily. I’m interested in social justice, education and issues related to women, girls and the African diaspora. I live for the stimulation I derive from creative expression, thoughtful writing and mentoring. I adore Atlanta, satisfying music, a good sermon, power walking, hot weather, Mexican food, sweet tea and my brother’s peach cobbler.
