Gina Toole Saunders is a contributing designer to FierceforBlackWomen.com. Gina is a freelance graphic designer in the Washington, D.C., metro area where she lives with her husband, dog and her “ultimate design” — her 7-year-old son.
Gina supervises the design of 18 publications for Studio Gannett, the premium publishing division of Gannett Inc. She also worked at AARP for 12 years as the lead Art Director for AARP’s bilingual magazine, AARP VIVA, and previously on AARP The Magazine and My Generation magazine in New York. She also held positions at BET’s Savoy and BET Weekend magazines. Some of Gina’s clients include Hyde Park School of Dance in Chicago, Bethesda Medispa, and Jack and Jill of America Inc.
Design Philosophy:
I revel in the opportunity to take something in raw form and to develop it to create some sort of digestible order, beauty and intrigue. I think of design as an evolutionary process that maintains the voice of the original sum of it’s parts, while elevating the whole into something new.
