Researchers at Duke Cancer Institute in North Carolina released a report this afternoon that exercise limits the growth of some breast cancer tumors.

By transforming the tumor’s network of blood vessels, exercise also makes it easier for chemotherapy drugs to target and destroy the tumors. The study is the first to show this association in advanced tumors in an animal study.

The national Office of Disease Prevention and Health recommends that all adults get at least 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous exercise five days a week. Regularly breaking a sweat will not only help you reduce your breast cancer risk, it will also cut your chances of developing heart disease, hypertension and stroke.
